Wetting transition and Landau-Levich films

If you slowly withdraw a solid plate out of a water bath, its remains dry. But above a certain velocity (called critical velocity), the plate is covered with water (the Landau-Levich film): this phenomenon is called the wetting transition. It can be observed if you gently rotate a half filled bottle of water.
