January Oops, another new year, some trees in socks, a frozen Hudson, various vegan virtuoso victuals, Columbian lights, the Garden State's views, to-be-roasted garlic.

2000
 
December A bike box, some snow says hello, a fierce wind, mild solstice festivies, a frozen harbour, a plethora of ducks doing "The Birds" thing, a steadfast crankset.
November Signs of friendliness and warmth in the big city, the longest schlep, rooted hexagons, rampaging tree-climing rodents and Southwestern wood and rail.
October Some racing (biathloning (no pistols), half-marathoning), images of new environs, leaving the fallen, and riding through a familiar landscape, an instance of arboreta.
September Various hitches, a visit to the Mystic aquarium, and Evan the whole-a-bumblebee (no relation to Eric).
August Bovine urbanity, old abodes, more unification, the packing begins, gardening, yoga, moving, the passing on of stuff, Queensland constructions.
July Flowers flowing around the neigbourhood of being independent in the same way, a herpetological pond, the witch of Ip.
June In a spot that lives up to its simplest anglicization, niceness abounds.
  Time for a hooding with a thing that doesn't hood that well and then some commencing now that we've finished and the Rubikkian cakemaker is at it again.
  General objects observed as the days run out in length, wandering around a sandy island, small bouncing organisms.
May Variegated elements comprising of New York, a thesis, allergies, Pittsburgh, the front porch, bike bits and pre-commencing.
April A trip to Marblehead, old doors, burial grounds, and a thesis-in-waiting, oddjects, and N'awlins (mmm, beignets...), thesis validation, the biology of spring, large holes in Boston, another type of marathon, daffodils and things.
March Some forthcoming catastrophes, plus a little more snow, thesis preparation and a certain pair of wedding goats are finally out the door.
February A few feeble offerings for the midwinter, a snowstorm, garbology, and a well frozen river.
January Brisbane's botanic gardens; perusing the inhabitants of the Australia Zoo including very large, hungry crocodiles; interacting Galapogas tortoises; Harriet the tortoise (170 years old, originally obtained by Darwin apparently); lazy kangaroos, koalas and other beasts.
  Begorra, brethren, betrothing, Brisbane, blimey.
  Being present at Melbourne, various farms, a lenticular experience, Brissy and Sydennay.
  The changeover of millennia, standing on the beach and watching a truly remarkable and extremely y2k-compliant sunrise. Nothing new under this new sun, it's still a thousand years since a thousand years ago.

December Digging bigly, wandering around San Francisco again, some mountain biking down along the coast, stars in the trees and a solstice moon, and the odd sunset.
November Leaves in for a fall, some sunsets, sand dunes, and a magnificent flocking of birds.
September A few meagre snaps from an actual holiday, extraordinary.
August The oldest working cornmill in the United States; the beginning of summer holidays (for others); more knee surgery (beware the squeamish, there are some ugly scenes); the spectacular Rubik cake for the thirtieth birthday (it's all scrambled up and the only way to fix it is to remove the stickers­horrors!).
July A journey to the world of Ignatius O'Reilly, hotdogs, whorehouses, above-ground graves, beignets, and interesting doors.
  Hoboken, islanding, roses and y (the Fourth of July), flowers, flowers, flowers.
June Late spring, a shingled trailer home, one bereft pair of shoes, visiting littl'uns, and ducks. And then to E and R's wedding in Pelham, NY.
May A footy practice match on the precariously fallowed turf of MIT.
  Nantucket in the spring with loads of daffodils and other healthy things. And lots of other stuff: MIT's dome becomes R2D2, riding around Uxbridge, a shower, closure at Bville and back to the island of faded pink apparel.
April The not-as-old-as-the-old-place old place, Hermie's Hill, the Big Desert and Essendon thump the Swans at the Home of Football on our last day in Australia.
  The boardwalk at the Nhill swamp, visiting Grandma, and more shots involving chooks.
  Up at Lorquon and Nhill where there are cats, fresh air, chooks and golf.
  Radar's sandals, heading off, Brisbane's centre.
  Around Brisbane: ferries, Southbank, Botanic Gardens and an inch worm.
  Up around Maroochydore.
  Along the Pacific Highway and then in Brisbane with much rain and accidents, some beach inspection, old mates, utes and footies.
  Travelling around more of Sydney, ferries, Manly, an internet/laundry, a large ant, and heading off.
  Back in Boston: a circus, the Boston Marathon, some footy and a sprained knee.
March A new house with renovators and Sydney University.
  And then to Syd-ah-nay where we find a large bridge, a large shell-like structure and Botanic gardens.
  Around camp at Yulara with bark, cheeky Miner birds, ant hills and peculiar sand dunes.
  A couple of days worth including a few walks around the Olgas and the Rock itself plus a precocious lizard.
  Yes, we flew in a helicopter on a drizzly day in the Centre. A rare mist around the Olgas.
  Gratuitous tourist snaps of Uluru and the Olgas as seen from the plane and Yulara.
  Various parts of town including Toorak Road, St Kilda beach, the gallery, Carlton and the requisite chocolate cake splurge.
  Wandering around Melbourne for the first time in a few years.
  Touch down in Australia, cakes, the Marsh retreat, large cats, a new calf and Walter.
  Some odd bods but mainly cross-country skiing in New Hampshire.
February A winter smattering of sunsets, ice, snow, a cheesy pavlova and our class on networks.
January Various snaps including ice sculptures and our trip to see Grandma and Grandpap.

1998
 
December A Nantucket winter solstice.
  A few odds and sods, including images of MIT, food, Santa Fe, and erosion in New Mexico.
November Day 4 of a short trip to San Francisco where we find some East coast escapees.
  The third day being one of a very cool bike exhibit and general museum wanderings.
  Day 2 comprised of a trip from one end of Golden Gate Park to the other, ending up at a large body of water,
  and Day 1, wandering around the city, Coit Tower and steep hills (Thursday 19th).
  November-at-large with a new xt rear derailleur, cultural events and A's new jumper.
October Images of S & K's wedding from A to Z.
  And stills of preunition, prepping for the big deal.
  Wandering around LA, including UCLA, Los Feliz, chessmen, RAND, and dress retrievals and rehearsals.
  A boutonniere, breakfasting, Japanese fish and heading off.
  Oodles of cranberries at the annual harvest of tourists and red things.
  More snippets of Nantucketing, a glowing pumpkin, The Scorpion and the classic handball shot.
September A couple of days hiking around the Baldface range up in New Hampshire.
  More randomness including a shrink-wrapped t-shirt and foam structure in the kitchen sink.
August Summer vacation at Boxes of Sand, Band and Castles, cycling, roses galore.
  Scenes of victory celebrations and a small tourist foray around town.
  Post championship win, some general relaxation.
  The Cincinatti comp from the camera of `Skills,' the champion veteran.
  The Aussie Rules US champs held in Cincinatti (we won).
  Some tatty jpegs of a footy practice match at MIT plus one of NY.
  K's solid golf swing, a Luau and Mount Monadnock.
July The notebook, down in New Jersey with Godchildren and a persistent butterfly.
